Anne-Marie McNabb:
I am an Irish native, I came here to live with my husband 18 years ago. I have a 17 year old son, I trained as aesthetician and an electrologist in London and Ireland. I owned a salon in Ireland for 7 years before moving to the US. I was slightly heavy in my mid-teen years and turned to exercise to lose the weight. I found that I was good at weight training and the gym became my second home. I also taught aerobic classes 4 times a week at my local squash club, after training in London.
My husband and I attended many bodybuilding shows and even competed in many local ones. After we moved to the US I continued at the gym while I worked as an electrologist.
Realizing as my hormones were changing so was my body and after years
of leaning over people,when doing electrolysis,my posture was terrible. I looked for a change of body and career, and thats when I found Pilates and it has changed my life, working it's magic on my body, mind, and spirit.
I did a year long certification with Cathy Corey,of West Coast Pilates. I was incredibly lucky to have been taught by such a Master trainer. She was tough yet kind and gave a depth of insight to Pilates and each exercise that I will be forever grateful. I continued with 2 years of private sessions all over San Diego with some wonderful teachers and workshops with Rael of Body Arts and Science in Costa Mesa.
Finally it was time to open my own studio and hopefully pass on to others the love of Pilates and see in their bodies the changes I have seen in my own. Pilates is a life changing process growing mentally, physically, and spiritually.
Hopefully we will meet along the way, I look forward to it.
